Getting excited for the 2024 triathlon season

The year 2023 flew by us and the 2024 competition season is well under way already! Top Line Coaching continues to grow and serve athletes from all walks of life; from a variety of sports, and from beginner to professional. In this newsletter, I share our updates and hope to inspire you to continue chasing after your dreams and goals!

TRIATHLON NEWS: Top Line Coaching works with a small number of dedicated triathletes looking to progress in the sport and achieve their valued goals. In 2024, our athletes are training for half and iron distance races, marathons, and ultramarathons, and for overall fitness and wellbeing. Brent Aucutt (pictured below) kicked off Top Line’s triathlon season with a solid race at Ironman 70.3 Gulf Coast. Way to go Brent!

SPORT PSYCHOLOGY NEWS: Top Line’s owner, Nicole Adams, PhD, works with athletes to optimize their mental game and get the most out of themselves on and off the field. Mental game coaching focuses on practical mental skills to help athletes focus their attention and execute their game plan. Recently, Jessica Alberico (pictured below) PR’d at the Boston Marathon after a  breakout 2023 triathlon season! Jess dedicates tremendous energy to her physical and mental training but also to her career, her family, and her friends. She is a true “all rounder”, a delightful person, dedicated athlete, and a pleasure to work with. Stay tuned for a podcast interview with Jess, coming soon!

COACH NEWS: In 2023, I decided to take a step back from triathlon racing and get back into riding horses. It didn’t take me long to progress from taking lessons to buying my own! Royal (pictured below) came to me in May 2023 and it has been an incredible journey of love and learning since then. With the help of some wonderful trainers, I have been lucky enough to find this beautiful boy and make progress in my riding; a dream of mine since I was 8 years old. Riding horses provides a whole new level of challenge, both physically and mentally. I believe it has made me a better coach by providing me with experiences of tremendous mental challenge and growth. It has given me greater empathy for the athletes I work with by seeing sport through new eyes. In the words of Duke Basketball coach, Kara Lawson, it doesn’t get easier, you just “handle hard better”. Please enjoy this short clip from her now-famous speech: “Handle Hard Better”.

Nicole and Royal (JC: Imalittlesilver): Royal is an 8-year old thoroughbred off the racetrack. After his racing career, he had a few years off before finding his new job with me. I hope to train Royal in dressage and eventually travel to compete in shows with him.

Thank you for catching up with us! We wish you a very happy and healthy competition season and I look forward to hearing about your adventures. Stay tuned for more updates soon!
