Ironman 70.3 Lubbock Report

Racing Local!

Ironman 70.3 Lubbock took place on June 26th and Top Line Coaching and Club athletes lined up for another challenging and competitive race! Our athletes faced those challenges with poise and preparation and came away with some great lessons learned, goals reached, and placed 3rd overall in Tri Club standings! Top Line athletes and friends were joined by Lubbock Professional Firefighters Association members to volunteer on Saturday and Sunday to help make this race a success. We are tremendously grateful for our volunteers' time and energy and send a very special thanks to LPFFA for supporting us and helping make this a great experience for all! Since 2019, Top Line athletes, friends, and family have been volunteering at Ironman 70.3 Lubbock. Starting in 2021, Lubbock Professional Firefighters Association has graciously joined us to take on a huge share of the volunteer work and enabled us to staff two areas: Bike Check In on Saturday and Aid Station #2 on race day. I would like to send a very special and warm thanks to all of the firefighters who joined us this year. You all exemplify service and community. It makes us incredibly proud of our city and showcases the doers' attitude that I believe is at the heart of every first responder. This year, we also had younger volunteers helping us, from as young as 9. We loved the spirit and enthusiasm of our young volunteers and look forward to having them back in 2023!

At this year's Ironman 70.3 Lubbock, Top Line coached and club athletes did West Texas proud once again! We had 11 athletes racing for Top Line Tri Club and our performance earned us 3rd place on the Tri Club podium! Congratulations to coached athletes Brent Aucutt, Audrey Brown, Ashley Ellis-Dotson, and Chai Nguyen for your strong and patient performances. This race presented some unique challenges with a STRONG North/East wind on the bike and a non-wetsuit swim which is a great test of swimming skills. I am incredibly proud of all Top Line athletes for their hard work this year. Let's take 1st place on the podium next year!!
